The first really nice day in May, and naturally I'm sitting in my computer kneely chair, toiling in obscurity. It was transcripts, so it wasn't like there was much thought involved. David's latest thing is Human Capital and reporting to the board. Shudder.
Speaking of Boards. My tenure as a board member (my last for a while, I think. Looking for some me time in the midst of three 'jobs') is nearly done. I lose that burden on Wednesday. I have to say that, from the HR perspecive, I think everyone should have to sit on a volunteer board of directors. For something they like, even. But that is a management development opportunity that few take advantage of.
Perhaps I need to develop that thought a bit further: present it as an alternative to fancy leadership development. I'd need to bounce some of these ideas off some of my Executive Search people...I'm pretty sure I could scare up some comment from one of my contacts. I'll start with Karen, the leaderships goddess.
I may have to tap that fountain of information in financial services: he's new, and probably looking for the management development opportunity. I'm thinking that I'll also have to ask him if there's a company, web based, development tracking system so the csuite can gaze down from their great hights and see how many page hits they get on the leadership courses and promote that clown who thought he was actually on the community college page, and was planning to attend to meet eligible singles.
Catbert, where are you now? Dinner time.
